Kolkata, The ‘City of Joy’ is one of the most popular places to visit in India. The capital of the East Indian state of West Bengal is seen as the land of the intellectuals. The cultural legacy of the city is matchless and one of the best experiences in the country. Here, India is mixed with a little bit of the British colonial days and there are interesting specimens of architecture, artistic and cultural scene. The city is famously known as the Land of Mother Teresa and Rabindra Nath Tagore, but in the heart of the 300-year old city is the real feel of India. Kolkata offers an insight into the historic and cultural legacy of India. The third largest metropolitan city in the country, Kolkata was the capital of British India before Delhi assumed this position.

There is an option to begin at The Flower Market on the River Hooghly, then continue to the site of the terrible 'Black Hole', walk past the famous Writer's Building, the former Headquarters of the infamous East India Company. Around the Dalhousie square, see the magnificent Governor's House, Calcutta High Court, Town Hall, General Post Office and the almost forgotten Charnock Mausoleum.

Grab a bite at Flury’s

Flury’s was founded in the year 1927 and within no time, it gained immense popularity to become the favourite tea room of the prosperous British and the affluent Indian alike. Flury’s over the decades became a part of the culture of Kolkata and no morning walker’s daily routine is complete without a visit to this legendary eatery.
